What's your Home Improvement Month Goal?

According to a survey by Hiscox, which reviewed data from home owners, local council planning permission records and estate agents, more and more home owners are deciding to improve their existing property rather than make a move.
In 2018, 15% of homeowners made improvements from a new kitchen or bathroom, to a large-scale extension instead of moving – versus only 3% in 2013.

Extension? New kitchen? Complete Renovation?

Reasons for this decision vary, however the economy, house prices, job security, Brexit, stamp duty and uncertainty over interest rates are amongst the most common concerns. While everything may seem more uncertain at the moment, the UK has always been a keen home improvement nation, with 53% of homeowners carrying out work in the last 10 years.

Many of our clients are deciding to breathe new life into their homes by adding an extension, knocking down walls to create flexible living spaces, creating eat in kitchens to meet the demands of modern family life or creatively reconfiguring their existing space to maximise light and space.

The time is now!

If your project has been in the research stage for months, get motivated during National Home Improvement Month and get your project underway. It can be daunting to think about the time, effort and financial commitment of your project, however with good planning and the right partner on board to work with, before you know it, your home will be ready for entertaining, enjoying the garden views or simply the cosy retreat you need.

With day to day life pulling us in different directions, our homes need to be a sanctuary, somewhere to relax and enjoy, a space that works for the needs of your household. Perhaps your family is expanding, perhaps grown up children have moved out, maybe you’re finally going to create that dine-in kitchen you’ve always dreamt of to be able to host dinner parties.
