Behind the scenes on site in July
20 July 2021
It’s been a typical British summer so far with sunshine and heavy rainfall to contend with, however, our specialist onsite installation team have still been hard at work across the south of England. Whilst we await the full completion of projects, here’s a behind the scenes update from some of our recent projects.
Pure Glass Opening Roof Lantern, Alresford Hampshire
The Pure Glass Opening Roof Lantern is an ultra-modern frameless roof glazing solution. Part of the Pure Glass range, the lantern not only opens up space inside the home but also enhances the external view with its sleek, minimalist design.
Working with a long-term roofing contractor and with a spider crane on hand for the heavy lifting, the 2690mm x 1490mm lantern was smoothly installed onto the roof of the family home.
For this project, electric opening configuration was specified to allow the homeowners the ultimate in versatile ventilation and temperature control. This opening roof lantern features toughened, SN70 solar control, self-cleaning (Ritec), argon filled glass. FD85 Bifold Doors, South Downs National Park
Did we mention heavy showers? Our beautiful South Downs National Park project, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, was a rather soggy installation. Our clients, who are renovating their summer house, initially chose sliding doors, however during the Initial Project Consultation and subsequent specification stage, decided that they wanted to be able to completely open both sides – so two sets of FD85 bifold doors were installed.
Bifold doors are a versatile option, as the opening configuration can be tailored to the exact needs, location, and space available for each project. For this summer house, the 6 pane, 5474mm x 2115mm bifold set at the front is a traditional outward opening, however, the stack is then split, with 3 panes opening to the left and 3 panes opening to the right. This configuration allows the central 2 panes to function as French doors, providing easy access without needing to completely open the full bifold stack each time.
If you are researching your next project and looking at glazed door styles, this article may help you understand the benefits of the sliding and bifold systems and which one is the most suitable.
Hampshire roof lantern installations
Two of our Hampshire projects feature the Aluminium Roof Lantern. In Liphook, our clients chose the contemporary style roof lantern; this style features four panes of glass to create a stunning centrepiece. The 3000mm x 2000mm lantern features an Anthracite Grey (RAL7016M) frame with Toughened, Active Neutral Solar Control, Self-Cleaning, Argon filled glass, to provide optimum safety and temperature control.
In Alresford, the classic style Aluminium Roof Lantern was specified; this style features more individual panes of glass combined with aluminium bars to achieve a larger span and a timeless design. The 5050mm x 2250mm lantern was installed over a new living area, where the team will be installing a set of bespoke composite aluminium sliding doors with electrical opening, later in the summer.

Twickenham bifold door installation
In Twickenham, we installed a set of 4270mm x 2286mm bifold doors with 4 panes. Traditionally, bifold door configurations tend to feature an odd number of panes to allow for a traffic or pass door, which functions as a standard door and provides easy access without needing to open the complete stack. The bifold stack opens outward to the right for this project and features a traffic door on the left.
The FD85 bifold system, as featured in this project, is precision engineered and features some of the slimmest sightlines in the industry, at just 105mm. Find out more about this bifold system here.
