Behind the scenes on site in September
29 September 2021
Our specialist installation team can usually be found crisscrossing the south of England as they carefully install bespoke roof glazing and doors. This month, Hampshire has been a popular area, with installations in Grayshott, Alresford, West Wellow and Headley to name a few.
We love to see our glazing in all its final glory with beautiful flooring, fixtures, and finishes, however, for most of our projects, after the glazing is installed, there is still more work to be completed on-site. Our behind-the-scenes updates are a great way to get a glimpse of the projects as they progress.
Alresford; metallic finish electrically operated sliding doors
Working with building contractors Coleman Building, a ground floor rear extension was added to this family home in Alresford. The extension will feature kitchen, dining and living spaces and extend out onto a new outdoor entertaining area.
Within the extension, a large, 6 pane 5050mm x 2250mm Contemporary Aluminium Roof Lantern was designed as the centrepiece, to create height and allow maximum light to flow into the new space.
In addition to the contemporary lantern, 4000mm x 2100mm sliding doors are featured to create a wall of glass, blurring the lines between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Our clients chose a beautiful metallic dark grey frame for the sliding doors, as well as electrical operation for the sliding pane.
Including smart innovation such as electrically operated sliding doors or keyless entry for your entrance door is becoming increasingly popular as homeowners want to be able to control temperature and access at the touch of a button. Classic Aluminium Lantern in Grayshott, Hampshire
We were thrilled to realise that our client for this project was a homeowner we had worked with before on their previous home! For their latest renovation, we designed and installed a Classic Aluminium Roof Lantern, two sets of bifold doors, two large, fixed windows and one side hung window.
The Classic Aluminium Roof Lantern is an elegant design that features more individual panes of glass and aluminium bars to achieve a larger span. In our Grayshott project, the 5000mm x 2500mm lantern features 10 panes of toughened, Active Neutral Solar Control, Self-Cleaning, Argon filled glass.
The glass specification featured within roof glazing is a critical element due to the inherent issues surrounding glass installed at height. You can find out more about the importance of glazing specifications for your roof glazing here.
The two sets of bifold doors are outward opening, to make use of the outdoor entertaining area. Set one features four panes, a 4000mm x 2460mm span, bifolding to the left with a pass door – or traffic door.
To achieve a cohesive design, the second set of glazed doors uses the same bifold profile in a French door configuration. Bifold doors are a versatile glazed door system. If you are considering featuring a set of bifold doors in your next products, read our Configuring bifold doors article to find out more.
West Wellow, Schüco bifold doors
In West Wellow, two sets of bifold doors were installed into a ground floor extension. The Schüco bifold door system combines exceptional engineering with high-quality performance and contemporary styling.
Across the rear of the extension is a 7 pane, 7920mm x 2100mm bifold door set in Anthracite Grey RAL7016M. Choosing bifold doors means that the whole wall of glass can be opened to enjoy the views and unrestricted access onto the outdoor entertaining area.
On the side return, a set of 3-pane bifold doors was installed to provide sides access, as well as create a dining area open on two sides.
