Behind the scenes on site in March
16 April 2021
It’s hard to believe that we’re already well into April, the first 3 months of the year have flown by with some great projects completed. It’s not always possible to revisit our projects and share the complete transformation, so we thought we’d share some behind the scenes details of recent projects.
Architectural glazing across the South of England
Our recent projects have seen the team crisscrossing the South of England from London, to Surrey and Sussex installing beautiful bespoke architectural glazing for new builds, extensions and renovations.
Each and every project requires specialist technical knowledge to ensure the best glazing solution is specified, designed, delivered and installed to achieve the vision.
Roof glazing specialists
It would be easy to think that all roof glazing is created equally. We can’t stress enough how important is it to work with a specialist supplier to ensure you achieve not only the glazing vision but also to ensure the roof glazing is expertly specified, designed and installed for the exact requirements of the project.
Our roof glazing is installed using a thermally broken frame fitted to the upstand, creating a sleek design and weatherproof seal. For added safety, the glass is laminated; in the highly unlikely event of the glass breaking, the lamination prevents the glass from falling into the area below.
Our end-to-end project management process means that our expert team are working alongside you throughout your project. From survey, specification and logistics, through to installation and aftercare – you have one dedicated point of contact.
Flat roof lights for London home
For our recent London project, we installed two 3250 x 2250mm Pure Glass Flat Roof Lights – each weighing over 540kg. Our onsite team are highly experienced glass handlers, working with specialist equipment to ensure the installation is smooth and safe.
To safely transport and position the extra-large roof lights, we worked with Lift Assist, using their brand new robotic tracked carrier, combined with the spider crane to safely lift the roof lights into position.
Modern glazing in Amberley
With successful projects completed together already, for our project in Amberley we were delighted to work with Steve Davis Developments again. Working with Steve, owner Rosie and architect Jennifer Lewin, timber composite windows and sliding doors were specified to blend seamlessly with the timber-clad extension and renovation design.
Timber composite windows and doors combine two high-quality materials to provide the home with the best of both worlds for your glazing; a warm, natural timber finish interior combined with an aluminium exterior for superior thermal performance and weather resistance.
The timber composite frame is available in a wide range of configurations, opening functions, hardware and colours to perfectly complement the design aesthetic.
Each project has its unique challenges and in Amberley, it was site access. In a relatively remote location, the onsite team navigated a narrow, muddy pathway to manually transport the glazing from delivery location to site.
Otto Group project in Surrey
The final phase of our collaboration in Surrey with the Otto Group was completed in March. This contemporary new build features over 50 pieces of architectural glazing including floor to ceiling sliding doors, floating corner sliding doors, strip roof lights, up and over roof glazing and much more.
For more details on this project read our case study.
Phase 1 underway in Ewhurst
We know that planning a new build, renovation or extension takes time. Having been working with our client in Ewhurst for some time as they developed and refined the plans for their new build, we were on site in March for phase 1 of the installation.
Phase 1 includes wrap-around glass – or sometimes it’s known as ribbon glazing. This relatively unusual form of glazing is featured between the roof and wall to create an uninterrupted strip – or ribbon – of glazing.
As the build continues, the team will be back on-site to continue the installation of the complete glazing package including an entrance door with sidelight, windows, French and single doors, and two sets of sliding doors, including one corner configuration.
Working with Exact for your complete architectural glazing package could be the right answer for your next project. Our end-to-end project management approach means you liaise with one expert supplier throughout the project, simplifying your project management and creating a smooth process for delivery and installation as the build schedule evolves. The Exact team work with you to manage each stage of the project to meet the needs of the onsite team.
