Meticulous planning goes into each and every project we work on and that’s happening even before we are chosen as the architectural glazing supplier. The hours, weeks and months of research and planning by the project team is vital to ensure the build and vision are achieved on time, on budget - and meet the brief.

Our project at in Milford on Sea perfectly demonstrates the love, care, expertise and time it takes to achieve an exquisite build. Our clients have embarked on an ambitious and exciting project to bring new life to an old mill and we’ll be sharing the story of the project over the coming months.

Nestled in Milford on Sea

The story of this property dates back to 1750 when it was built, along with The Miller’s House and Coach House shortly after, all of which remain on the site today. Pre 1922, there were also two further buildings that sadly didn’t survive. There is also believed to have been a mill at this site dating back to the Domesday book, over a thousand years ago. So, the site and buildings have historical importance for the area.

Sitting on a 4.5-acre site in the village of Milford on Sea, it is nestled in the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest. Since 2009, the buildings have stood empty, awaiting the right person to take on the opportunity! In 2017, our clients purchased the site and, after an extensive planning period and, having garnered significant support from the community, they were granted permission to bring all of the remaining three buildings back to life.

The importance of a specialist architectural glazing supplier

The plans for this large project are intended to breathe new life into the three existing buildings, with the addition of an extension to link all of the buildings together as one and create a family home.

Working with an architect, our clients have pored over the plans to ensure their home will be a stunning family home and also contribute to the saving of historic buildings at risk and to the community of Milford on Sea, given its importance and location to the village.

Integral to the design is the glazing which will be featured. In addition to the glazing linking the existing buildings, the new extension incorporates the areas of the two buildings lost to the site, preserving their memory and the history of the whole site.

The extension and glazing that you are providing is absolutely key in the success of this project. We are so pleased to have found Exact, your presentation and open approach has made us feel very welcome and valued already.
