Contemporary glazing Grade II listed farmhouse
Lurgashall, West Sussex
12 March 2020
Tucked away in a small village in West Sussex, our clients were renovating their Grade II listed farmhouse to provide disabled access. The addition of a glazed link between the existing kitchen and bedroom creates a new entrance for the home as well as an enclosed walkway.
Working with the building contractor and architect
Working closely with architect Ian Adam-Smith Architects and building contractor Bramdean Construction, we were able to advise on the best solution for this unusual configuration. When we’re involved in a project from the start, we can really add our expertise to ensure each element of the project is meticulously planned for the best possible outcome. For this project a fully flush threshold would have been ideal, unfortunately, as we were engaged at a later stage of the project it wasn’t feasible, however, we were able to work collaboratively to ensure the glazing provides a low threshold, ensuring it is suitable for disabled access.
If your project calls for a flush threshold get in touch today to start a conversation. It’s critical that the threshold level is agreed so that it’s designed and built into the project from the beginning. Our recent project in Hampshire is a great case study where we worked closely with the project team to create seamless access from a new rear extension onto the outdoor entertaining area.

Architectural glazing designed to meet your exact needs
In most projects, glazed doors are added to allow access and create a wide glazed span with maximum opening. Choosing which type of glazed door is right for your project can be tricky, however, our Project Managers are on hand to discuss your needs and advise you on the best glazing solution for your vision. There are many things to consider when choosing between sliding and bifold doors so, if you’re in need of some guidance, read our news story.
Rather than a more traditional configuration of 2 or 3 equal-sized panes, for this unusual project, our client required a large fixed pane to create a glazed wall and a smaller sliding door for access.
All of our architectural glazing is bespoke. We work with you, your architect, builder or onsite team to design and manufacture every piece to meet the exact needs of your project. If you don’t see the configuration which fits the vision of your project, get in touch with one of our Project Managers and find out how we can find you the right solution – we haven’t been beaten by a project yet!
The versatility of the Reynaers CP130 sliding door
As well as industry-leading maximum sizes allowing you to achieve almost uninterrupted panoramic views, the Reynaers CP130 sliding door is an incredibly versatile system.
In addition to the option of an asymmetrical configuration with different sized panes, the CP130 system can be designed on a single, double or triple track. The system also features a unique 'lift and slide' opening mechanism; when the handle is turned to slide the door, it is slightly lifted to reduce friction and allow effortless opening and closing for all the family.
Another exciting configuration achievable with the CP130 system is a corner configuration, which allows you to completely open up 2 sides of a room without the need for a fixed corner element. Take a look at this project where our client has incorporated the corner configuration in their rear extension, it’s a real wow – even if we do say so ourselves!
