Our clients in the Surrey village of Shalford decided to enhance their home by adding a single storey rear extension, expanding their kitchen, living and dining space.

Combining architectural glazing
With a large single storey extension, there are many considerations when it comes to the glazing required. How will the areas be used? How should the open plan living space be zoned? What access is required to and from each area? And many more questions!

Adding roof glazing floods the space below with light and creates a focal point, immediately opening up the room with a breath-taking view. Combining roof glazing with carefully chosen, complementary doors and windows creates a light, bright and cohesive interior.
Flat roof minimalism
Our clients in Shalford chose a Pure Glass Flat Roof Light for the new kitchen and dining area. The 3800mm x 1500mm 3 pane roof light is positioned over the dining area, creating a stunning feature and zoning the kitchen and dining areas.

Schüco French doors combine exceptional engineering with high-quality performance and contemporary styling – perfectly complementing the minimal aesthetic of the Pure Glass Flat Roof Light and creating an elegant interior finish. As well as 6 standard RAL colours, bespoke RAL colours are available upon request.
Completing the look with an aluminium picture window
Having added a flat roof light to the dining area, it was important to ensure the kitchen was also flooded with natural light and had views over the garden. The addition of a 1500mm x 1500mm fixed pane aluminium window, with a RAL9005 black frame to match the Schüco French Doors, provides an inspiring, ever-changing view from the new kitchen.
