steel door and window installation in Petersfield by Exact

Our clients in Petersfield wanted to incorporate architectural glazing into the renovation of their family home. Whilst the house was built in the early 2000s, our client’s vision was to create a more timeless interior and exterior for the home.

Specifying architectural glazing

We aim to begin each project with an Initial Project Consultation. During the consultation, we will discuss the requirements and vision of the project to ensure we are the right specialist glazing partner for you. It’s also your opportunity to find out about us, how we work and why our end-to-end project management approach will simplify your project.

By understanding the overall project from the early planning stages, we can advise on the best solutions to achieve the architectural glazing, including thresholds, glazing systems, glass specification and complementary systems for the complete glazing package.

Choosing Steel French Doors

For the rear of the home, a W20 Steel Door screen featuring one set of double doors with sidelights and top panes was agreed to create an almost vintage feel. Whilst black or grey are often chosen for the frame colour of glazing, our clients chose a matt black-green, RAL 6012 for a bolder statement.

The black-green frame is perfectly finished with solid brass hardware, in mid-antique brass – further enhancing the traditional aesthetic.

With a 3422 x 2560mm span, often clients choose bifold or sliding doors, to maximise the uninterrupted view. However, choosing a Steel screen door and pane combination creates a flood of natural light, easy access, and a framed view. Whilst the W20 system is traditional in its design, we feature the optimum glass specification to achieve impressive thermal performance, with U-values up to 1.5 W/m2K, a B Energy rating.

The Steel glazing system is incredibly versatile; as well as being used for external glazing solutions, it can be configured to create a flow of contemporary light-filled areas within the home, zoned by slim-profile steel doors and windows.

Glazed door styles

If the styling of the Steel system isn’t right for your project, you may prefer bifold doors, sliding doors or French doors to fit with the architectural style. Each door system has its own unique features and can be combined across the home to achieve the perfect access, flow and lifestyle. Find out more about our sliding and bifold doors here.

Four aluminium roof lanterns installed in Petersfield by Exact

Multiple roof lanterns

Roof lanterns not only act as a stunning focal point for an area of the home, but they also maximise the natural light and ceiling height to create an airier space. To complement the steel feature doors and windows, the Aluminium Roof Lantern was specified for this project.

Four roof lanterns are featured across the home, with slimline rafter bars in RAL 6012 matt green-black to follow the aesthetic of the steel profile. Our clients chose to match the interior and exterior frame colours; however, it is possible to choose dual colour frames to achieve a different look inside and out.

To maximise the versatility and performance of the roof lanterns, two opening vents were incorporated into each lantern and supplied with opening poles to provide ventilation and temperature control when needed. For the ultimate control, you can include electric opening vents across the range of roof glazing; during your Initial Project Consultation and the subsequent specification stage, your project manager will advise on the best options for the project.
